There is a water main break in the 300 block of South Douglas.  Due to this break the water will be shut off in that area and then back on at noon.  As a preventative measure during the work, the City will chlorinate the water system until the project is complete and a good sample is confirmed from that area.  If you have questions, please call the Three Rivers Department of Public Servces at 273.1845.

On Tuesday around 11:00 a.m. the City of Three Rivers experienced wide-spread rusty water problems. Upon investigation it was determined that unauthorized and untimely flushing of hydrants had taken place by a private enterprise. This problem will be dealt with as soon as possible and hopefully will not reoccur. If there are any prolonged problems call the DPS office at 273-1845. Thank you for your patience. The City of Three Rivers will hold a public hearing on the proposed Drinking Water Revolving Funds Project Plan improvements for the purpose of receiving comments from interested persons. The St. Joseph County Land Use Council is planning a 1.5 mile, non-motorized trail connecting the City of Three Rivers with St. Joseph County’s Meyer Broadway Park in Fabius Township. Fabius Township and the City have shown support for the project. Waste Management has offered support with financial resources to cover the 20 percent required cost share. The City is experiencing an increase in rusty water complaints throughout the City.  We believe much of the problem is from the chlorination of the system as a result of positive bacteriological tests in the fall months.  We are investigating the cause of the positive samples.  We will continue to monitor the water supply and chlorinate as recommended.  Chlorine is an oxidizer, and it is reacting with the iron in the water and the deposits in the water mains.  We are doing our best to combat the problem with hydrant flushing as we receive complaints.  If we are required to…

The Three Rivers Fire Department is collecting donations of gifts and wrapping paper for those in need this holiday season.  Donations can be dropped off at City Hall, Armstrong International, and Century 21 Real Estate, all located in Three Rivers.  Gifts will be delivered to approximately 60 families on Christmas Eve, December 24, from 3 – 9 p.m.  by firefighters and several volunteers.
