A contracted service technician performing radio maintenance on the warning sirens in the City of Three Rivers inadvertently activated the system Thursday afternoon. The activation was caused by human error, and was not caused by defective equipment or system failure. “The radio work being done was not supposed to trigger an activation, and we were told that the radio repairs could be tested without actually sounding the sirens”, according to Dan Tomlinson, Fire Chief. “Our redundant activation process surprised the technician, otherwise we would have given adequate notice to the public before initiating the work.” The service contractor reported that…

The City of Three Rivers Department of Public Service crews will begin brush pickup beginning Monday, October 4th thru Friday, October 15th. Please have brush placed on the terrace next to the curb by Monday. This is for brush only and brush mixed with leaves will not be picked up. The Three Rivers Department of Public Services will be flushing hydrants from September 20th and continue through mid-October, weeknights from 9:00 PM until 5:00 AM. The City of Three Rivers has scheduled a Public Hearing on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Commission Chamber located at City Hall, 333 W. Michigan Avenue, Three Rivers, Michigan 49093. The City is requesting grant funding in the amount of $185,850 from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) through the Downtown Façade Grant program. As the new home at 918 8th Street approaches its final construction stage, the second Three Rivers Neighborhood Stabilization Grant (NSP) home, located at 701 East Broadway, continues to take shape and develop it’s own character. “Home #2” has been framed and was receiving its new shingled roof as of Monday, August 18. The contractors will soon be moving inside to do their dry wall work.
