FLOOD WARNING –
July 15-20, 2024:
National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the St. Joseph River in Three Rivers.
Flooding is expected to be in the Minor flooding stage with it cresting at 8.3 feet this afternoon. The St. Joseph River is predicted to fall to flood stage Wednesday evening. It will then rise to 7.3 feet early Friday afternoon, and fall below flood stage early Saturday afternoon. Flood stage is 7 feet.
Expected impact: At 8.0 feet, minor flooding of apartments near the river along Mechanic Street, the River Glen Condos on east Michigan Ave, and basements of several homes along River Drive can be expected.
Avoid floodwaters: Don’t walk, swim or drive through floodwater and watch for washed-out roads, downed power lines and other hazards. Do not attempt to drive on closed streets or around barricades.
Available assistance: Any affected residents requiring temporary emergency shelter may contact the American Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) – 24 hours a day.
Sandbags (without fill) are available at Saint Joseph County Sheriffs Department lobby. Cost is 35 cents each. Fill sand may be obtained through your local excavating company.

Evacuation of some animals in the park zoo can also be expected. High water affects several businesses and floods the basements of homes along south Main, Green, and Jackson Streets. 8.00 - Minor flooding of apartments near the river along Mechanic Street, the River Glen Condos on east Michigan Ave, and basements of several homes along River Drive can be expected. 7.00 - Expect minor flooding of the Scidmore Park picnic facilities in Three Rivers. _

The City of Three Rivers Fire Department is urges residents and business owners near rivers to prepare for rising waters. Citizens are urged to STAY OFF & AWAY FROM THE RIVERS. High water levels cause strong currents making the water unsafe.
