The African Spurred Tortoise, also known as the African Spur Thigh Tortoise, or Sulcata Tortoise, inhabits the semi-arid grasslands and shrub lands of northern Africa. It is the third largest species of tortoise in the world and the largest species of mainland tortoise. They can dig tunnel systems extending 10 feet or more underground. They commonly live over 100 years and grow to over 100 pounds. Our Bob is 17 years old about 90 pounds this year.
