Bonnie is our cart pony, purchased last May. She has a large abdomen in general, having been bred many times in her life. It turns out she had one last surprise tucked there! She gave us a beautiful little colt just before Midnight on February 28th. Horses usually give birth in May or June when the weather is warm. Beyond that, Bonnie is around 20 years old (similar to a woman around 50), so she is past her child-bearing years. Despite small complications, both Bonnie and little Lightning are doing well, thanks to ’round the clock attention and visits from an equine veterinarian. Lightning will stay with us through the summer, enjoying all the attention!
