2021 Spring Clean Up


PUBLIC NOTICE – City-Wide Trash Pick Up:

In May of this year, the City of Three Rivers will continue its partnership with Waste Management to provide a one-time removal of refuse items for residential properties. Items are planned to be picked up by district as follows (below).  Note: depending on the amounts of trash in each district, WM’s schedule may change.

UPDATE – 5/28:  Waste Management has completed Districts 1 and 4.  District 3 was partially completed yesterday and is being worked on today.  Based on information provided by WM, over 25 tons of trash were removed from District 3 on Thursday alone.  The City and WM will continue coordinating for remaining areas on Tuesday (after the holiday weekend).  In addition to this year’s city-wide trash pick-up event, residents are reminded that dump passes are available at City Hall.

UPDATE – 5/21:  Waste Management s experiencing a shortage in certain, critical positions today (including drivers) but will resume next week beginning with a return to District 1, followed by District 2.  Residents should expect pick-up of acceptable refuse items & materials on their regular household garbage days the week of May 24-28 (excluding areas in Districts that have already had refuse items picked up as part of this year’s event).

UPDATE – 5/17:  Waste Management is currently experiencing delays with staffing due to COVID-19.  Due to these and other, general workforce shortages, the spring clean up schedule for Three Rivers residential areas has been delayed by at least one (1) day:

  • 1st District: Monday Tuesday, May 18th
  • 2nd District: Tuesday Wednesday, May 19th
  • 3rd District: Wednesday Thursday, May 20th
  • 4th District: Thursday Friday, May 21st

Items to be picked up should be placed on the terrace area of yard along with regular trash. Please note, if Waste Management is not your trash removal provider, your regular trash will be picked up separately.

The amount that will be picked up at each location is limited to 3 cubic yards (i.e., approx. 1 pickup truck load). Details regarding specific items that are allowed and not allowed are listed in the document linked below…*

This event does not include residents in the downtown area. The downtown area will be provided dumpsters starting May 18th. They will be located in the East and West Parking lots. For more information visit www.threeriversmi.org or call (269) 273-1075.
